girl who writes

Date a girl who writes.
Date a girl who may never wear completely clean clothes, because of coffee stains and ink spills. She’ll have many problems with her closet space, and her laptop is never boring because there are so many words, so many worlds that she’s cluttered amidst the space. Tabs open filled with obscure and popular music. Interesting factoids about Catherine the Great, and the immortality of jellyfish. Laugh it off when she tells you that she forgot to clean her room, that her clothes are lost among the binders so it’ll take her longer to get ready, that her shoes hidden under the mountain of broken Bic pens and the refurbished laptop that she’s saved for ever since she was twelve.
Kiss her under the lamppost, when it’s raining. Tell her your definition of love.
Find a girl who writes. You’ll know that she has a sense of humor, a sense of empathy and kindness, and that she will dream up worlds, universes for you. She’s the one with the faintest of shadows underneath her eyelids, the one who smells of coffee and Coca-cola and jasmine green tea. You see that girl hunched over a notebook. That’s the writer. With her fingers occasionally smudged with charcoal, with ink that will travel onto your hands when you interlock your fingers with hers. She will never stop, churning out adventures, of traitors and heroes. Darkness and light. Fear and love. That’s the writer. She can never resist filling a blank page with words, whatever the color of the page is.
She’s the girl reading while waiting for her coffee and tea. She’s the quiet girl with her music turned up loud (or impossibly quiet), separating the two of you by an ocean of crescendos and decrescendos as she’s thinking of the perfect words. If you take a peek at her cup, the tea or coffee’s already cold. She’s already forgotten it.
Use a pick-up line with her if she doesn't look to busy.
If she raises her head, offer to buy her another cup of coffee. Or of tea. She'll repay you with stories. If she closes her laptop, give her your critique of Tolstoy, and your best theories of Hannibal and the Crossing. Tell her your characters, your dreams, and ask if she gotten through her first novel.
It is hard to date a girl who writes. But be patient with her. Give her books for her birthday, pretty notebooks for Christmas and for anniversaries, moleskins and bookmarks and many, many books. Give her the gift of words, for writers are talkative people, and they are verbose in their thanks. Let her know that you’re behind her every step of the way, for the lines between fiction and reality are fluid.
She’ll give you a chance.
Don’t lie to her. She’ll understand the syntax behind your words. She’ll be disappointed by your lies, but a girl who writes will understand. She’ll understand that sometimes even the greatest heroes fail, and that happy endings take time, both in fiction and reality. She’s realistic. A girl who writes isn’t impatient; she will understand your flaws. She will cherish them, because a girl who writes will understand plot. She’ll understand that endings happen for better or for worst.
A girl who writes will not expect perfection from you. Her narratives are rich, her characters are multifaceted because of interesting flaws. She’ll understand that a good book does not have perfect characters; villains and tragic flaws are the salt of books. She’ll understand trouble, because it spices up her story. No author wants an invincible hero; the girl who writes will understand that you are only human.
Be her compatriot, be her darling, her love, her dream, her world.
If you find a girl who writes, keep her close. If you find her at two AM, typing furiously, the neon gaze of the light illuminating her furrowed forehead, place a blanket gently on her so that she does not catch a chill. Make her a pot of tea, and sit with her. You may lose her to her world for a few moments, but she will come back to you, brimming with treasure. You will believe in her every single time, the two of you illuminated only by the computer screen, but invincible in the darkness.
She is your Shahrazad. When you are afraid of the dark, she will guide you, her words turning into lanterns, turning into lights and stars and candles that will guide you through your darkest times. She’ll be the one to save you.
She’ll whisk you away on a hot air balloon, and you will be smitten with her. She’s mischievous, frisky, yet she’s quiet and when she has to kill off a lovely character, when she cries, hold her and tell her that it will be alright.
You will propose to her. Maybe on a boat in the ocean, maybe in a little cottage in the Appalachian Mountains. Maybe in New York City. Maybe Chicago. Baltimore. Maybe outside her publisher’s office. Because she’s radiant, wherever she goes. Maybe even outside of a cinema where the two of you kiss in the rain. She’ll say that it is overused and clichéd, but the glint in her eyes will tell you that she appreciates it all the same.
You will smile hard as she talks a mile a second, and your heart will skip a beat when she holds your hand and she will write stories of your lives together. She’ll hold you close and whisper secrets into your ears. She’s lovely, remember that. She’s self-made and she’s brilliant. Her names for the children might be terrible, but you’ll be okay with that. A girl who writes will tell your children fantastical stories.
Because that is the best part about a girl who writes. She has imagination and she has courage, and it will be enough. She’ll save you in the oceans of her dreams, and she’ll be your catharsis and your 11:11. She’ll be your firebird and she’ll be your knight, and she’ll become your world, in the curve of her smile, in the hazel of her eye the half-dimple on her face, the words that are pouring out of her, a torrent, a wave, a crescendo - so many sensations that you will be left breathless by a girl who writes.
Maybe she’s not the best at grammar, but that is okay.
Date a girl who writes because you deserve it. She’s witty, she’s empathetic, enigmatic at times and she’s lovely. She’s got the most colorful life. She may be living in NYC or she may be living in a small cottage. Date a girl who writes because a girl who writes reads.
A girl who writes will understand reality. She’ll be infuriating at times, and maybe sometimes you will hate her. Sometimes she will hate you too. But a girl who writes understands human nature, and she will understand that you are weak. She will not leave on the Midnight Train the first moment that things go sour. She will understand that real life isn't like a story, because while she works in stories, she lives in reality.
Date a girl who writes.

Because there is nothing better than a girl who writes.

reset

I have updated a few things on my social media profiles.

I deleted my blog url from facebook. I think I put it on there initially because I wanted people who were looking for something to be able to find it. However, I no longer consider that a good reason to visit my blog, my thoughts. It was relatively public, and I have found that to be...a bit of a nuisance. But anyway, I have pretty much unlinked my blogger from facebook. If you found me, kudos to you haha.

That being said, I really want to restart my tumblr, a different account. I have totally a mixed feeling about this. Maybe I should still do it and then msg *most of* my followers my new url (yes, this is a reason). Any suggestions?

Oh yea, speaking of tumblr, this yahoo better fix my queue page because I cannot change any settings for my queues. Yesterday I went to change the number of queued posts and the period of queue, and nothing saves. I was confused because I was also having issues with chrome and I thought it was chrome's problem, not tumblr's. Turns out, yahoo has been messing with it and they better fix it!! >:(

why do we get to choose?

As I was falling asleep last night, a thought came to me that I wanted to just touch upon, so I grabbed my phone and jot it down before I called it a night.

--

Everyone has that one person who they wish would love them, and that one person's love immeasurably towers over everyone else's love at times, or maybe all the time. For some reason, that one person's love is the one that matters, and when the possibility of their love being present arises, other people's importance seems to fall out of equation quite easily.

Why do we get to choose who loves us? You can't just diminish everyone's care and love for you just because that one person doesn't reciprocate. I know that this is not always the case, but I've seen a few of my friends do this and it's just not the right thing to do.

I guess what I'm saying is that I think love is hard enough to come by, don't be picky about who loves you, but be glad that someone does. It'll only make you miserable.
--

On another note, I have deleted my blogger link from facebook. Not exactly sure why I did that, but it was kinda an impulse from the feeling that facebook contrasts tumblr and blogger too much.

That is all.

let it be

For the past few days, it's really just been me and myself. I saw a friend, but it wasn't like a huge reunion or anything. I mean, it was nice to see an old friend. What I'm saying, though, is that while I talked to a few people on break, it brought back some old feelings that I had forgotten.

One of them is the feeling of not looking. The actuality of not expecting to see anyone really. Furthermore, it's not trying to see people who will make you happy. I almost got to see a friend of mine, but she fell ill before her break ended so that didn't work out. This time, however, it was her who mentioned that we should hang out. It reminded me of high school when others asked me to hang out more than I asked them. Nowadays, it's usually me asking people if they wanna hang, and then they'll hang. Otherwise, I pretty much won't see anyone, most of the time.

Why is that?

There is, however, a difference I need to point out. That is, the difference between being asked to hang by a friend you wanted to hear from and a friend you thought of as a normal friend. The lack of the former may distort the times the latter has occurred.

To be honest, I found myself dismissing a few of the latter occasions quite a bit because they were simply not really what I wanted, even though they still rarely occurred. Heh, I even thought to myself, "should I even be picky at this point? I should be grateful that there are people who want to hang out with me," as there is an obvious difference between wanting to hang out with someone and being ok if someone tags along.

Yea, I just wanted to get some small gestures of....idk, something from my friends, and that's why I try to do that all the time. I guess I just want a time when someone stepped out of their way for me, and not because oh they'll be there also, so I can just tag along. No I don't want to tag along. I don't really want to just be a convenience. I want to feel that I matter for once.

And yet everything I do only makes it worst because I only settle for their convenience because that's...all I've got.

But you know, maybe it's too much to ask for and I'm just talking nonsense.

I'm just trying to say that I'm trying my best to let it be the way it is. I'm not sure what else I need to learn from all of this, but I guess I'm not done learning yet and He's still got more for me.

I hope I can keep this going. I don't know if I can, but I can only...try more.

At least, for the most part, I have tumblr and my followers to brighten my day because it always feels like talking to another side of me, but different people.

Rant over.

just listen

Sorry fora near-week break from blogging. Not sure why I just didn't blog for a little bit. I was busy at times but wasn't overwhelmed. I mean, I posted after my hell week too. Oh well haha, probably just didn't have enough things to talk about.

Alright, first thing's first. Status on getting a Surface Pro. There's a damn good chance I won't be getting that anytime soon, for several reasons.

  1. I just...don't really have the money. Plus the fact that there's that one week delay in my paycheck and I think it's more or less screwing with my saving plans.
  2. Even when I do save up enough for it, one purchase will basically turn me homeless, wallet-wise. I mean I could get BestBuy's cc and do a monthly payment method, but do I really need another card?
  3. This reason is actually real (I didn't want to admit it before but I should). Basically, I've gotten into a habit (I guess it's a habit now) of getting wings like once every week or two. They don't cost that much, but at this rate it'll simply take me an eternity to save up.
Damnit it's almost 2am again. Ok I'll just write something else real quick and then head off.

Another note: I got some whiskey from a friend, called Fireball. Delicious, haha.

Over the past few weeks, after every Tues and Thurs shift, I basically have to grab dinner by myself because I get out at 8pm and no one eats that late (people either eat early or mad late). So I've been more or less eating alone on those days.

It all reminded me how I enjoy eating alone. How I enjoy being by myself. I love walking by myself. I love reading by myself. I love solitude, because I can get to know myself, clear my head,  and understand my thoughts better. Sometimes, just listening to the background noise of life is soothing to the soul.

While all that is great, there are so many things I miss about people. I miss so many people, people I haven't seen in years, months, days, sometimes hours. Maybe I do get tired of my own soul when I begin to miss people. The thing is, having company is simply a magical thing.

Yea so I'm just saying that I miss people. >.>

And yes, I tend to want to hug the crap out of people. No shame.

I should get on writing and sending a letter as well. Damnit Tim get your shit together zz

On yet another side note, I've actually been very psyched about making friends on tumblr. They have been making my week all week long :3

But yea, heading off.

conversations

Going to keep this short; gotta wake up 8 in the morning tomorrow for church. (We will see how that goes)

Today was the LRC training day for my tutor job. It went from 10 am to 3 pm, but ended earlier because we either were ultra-productive or they simply didn't plan much. I'd like to think it's both.

The session involved a breakfast intro, tutors group activities vs. SI activities, lunch, and discussions about experiences and suggestions. That sounds like a lot, but it wasn't. I mostly enjoyed the social aspect of it. We talked about our interests, what inspired us to do what we want to do, our plans, and suggestions for each other. I made two friends, one a returning tutor (pre-med track, biology / neuroscience guy), and another a freshman (biology / Spanish; I told her to double major instead of a Spanish minor) who will be working at the desk reception on Thursdays. I will be working Tues/Thurs/Sundays so I will see her there! I also share one hour on my Sunday shift with the other tutor, so this will be fun :) Plus, I get a 75 cent raise! :D I will be working 13 hours/week, and I'm actually pretty excited.

Nevertheless, the discussions and conversations pretty much light up my day. It was a good morning.

OK. All this research stuff is getting me all upset and anxious and annoyed. I need these 2 days to be over right now, or just let me know that I got in...........k bai.

So my friend's still sick from something, and I guess I've been showing much worrying and it's probably annoying people. I mean, I can't exactly tell how "annoying" I was being because I just wanted to know how her day was and wanna be helpful and all. I get the sense that people just wanna be left alone, and I get that sometimes too.

Can't find the balance between caring too little and caring too much. Blargh :(

Well, I'm glad another friend's feeling better. Why is everyone getting random sicknesses and then getting better but then some people get sick again? Ugh is there something viral going on or something :( I mean I even feel like I'm getting something...

----

On another note, I tumblr'ed onto an image that, I think, described my "effort" so far and I think it lit a bulb in me. The quote goes as follows:
Somehow I guess I thought if I loved you enough and if I was good enough to you that you would love me back and I could finally get what I want at least once but I couldn't even do that and after all my efforts you still don't want or can't seem to love me like I love you
I wanna say a few things. First of all I agree with most of what (s)he's saying, but I realize that any effort doesn't always mean there will be an outcome, and therefore no one should expect one. Furthermore, that last line assumes that everyone loves the same way, and love has only one scale. What I have learned is that people love in their own ways. Maybe this one gesture means a whole lot to someone, while not as much to someone else. Or, maybe you don't think someone is loving you enough, but maybe the way that person is loving you is to their current best ability.

You need to just appreciate the presence of love, whether how deep or strong it is. If it is there, treasure it, because often times even that is hard to find.

That concludes my rant of the day. Heading off soon and I haz churchz tmw~

Sweet dreams, readers.

mhm

Yea sorry not exactly in the blogging mood today. Just gonna be on tumblr.

tumblr

So I was on tumblr earlier today and I reblogged this picture:

All of a sudden something clicked in me. I asked myself why did I reblog this picture. Well, because 1) I love this movie and 2) I can relate. Yea, most people reblog/like pictures because they can relate. This is rather normal and typical. But what I didn't realize when I see people (re)post pictures was that those people are probably relating themselves to those pictures as they posted them

Yea, it means that some people are alike, and it gives me a better hint of the actual tumblr community.

emotional blogger?

Yea, so the term "emotional blogger" came up when I was I talking to some friends.

So what exactly did I mean by that? Yes I was talking about myself, I guess just comparing to them being "emotional tumblr's"

Actually, I just went on a huge tumblr spree. And now it's 3am. I'll blog tomorrow...

G'night :)

hell week followed by hell weekend

Honestly, today would have been a good day, like a solid, productive day where I feel confident about myself and how I did on the two exams today. Still, they're fine. Went to a friend's birthday party and had my first shot (whiskey apparently) . It was fine and all, totally had one and a half shot for the first-timer. I didn't feel anything either, so it was just meh. It was fun though, since they all made a fuzz about my first shot xD

I don't plan on drinking a lot, ever. So no worries, people.

And then I came back to find that I got a terrible grade on a portion of a biochem lab report that we as a group wrote during the hell week with three exams. This was just perfect, wasn't it.

Maybe it was the party, I don't know, but something, combined with the bad news on that grade, I all of a sudden was in an extremely bad mood, a mix of upset and sentimental and want to just close myself off from the world. I then went on tumblr and just reposted everything I found that were relatable. All of a sudden, I was a mess. Yea, my roommate's with me, a few of my friends dropped by for a bit and such, and I was fine, but I wasn't. But again, it's what usually happens anyways 'cause I don't show it. No one understands so it's fine

Either case though, I need to mention that I finally got a letter from one of my penpals <3

Anyways. I think I'm only able to stay up this late today because I took the 2 hours nap earlier. But now...after all that spam from tumblr and stuff, my mind and heart are numb and I want to rest. I should just head off.

g'night, fellow internet people.

all nighters

....LAN parties, and 6am breakfasts. Haven't done this in a while x) Kinda not healthy, but that's why the rarity. I also realized two things.
One: still haven't finalized my build for Wukong.
Two: All-nighters make you feel like you're floating in water.

All and all, the party was fun. LoL, watched My Little Ponies for an hour (honestly don't know why but it was great), some Terreria, some played Pandemic, and then we went for breakfast at Franny's around 6am.

Parents were a bit hesitant since I didn't tell them that it was an all-nighter, but then again, if only I knew also...

And my dad wasn't feeling well so my mom brought him to the hospital for tests. He's gonna stay overnight for observation. He should be fine. He exaggerates a lot, but just in case, ya know. He's just too tired and stressed.

Pushing back my Boston plan till Saturday. Oh well.

--

On another note, I got another pen pal! And another follower! *happyface*

I think I'm gonna make a Yellowcard image for tumblr or something. Probably will do that tmw.

A little Skyrim and calling it a night. Oyasumi.

16 and dropping

I think it is worthy to note that after I came home from college the weather suddenly dropped 20 degrees. I actually brought my scarf over to college and back, never used it, and I took it out just yesterday for the 16-degree weather. Interesting, eh?

Finally got a haircut today, my hair is unbelievably bushy. =.=|

Another note, this facebook timeline thing is kinda ridiculous. Facebook is so constantly challenging people's visual analytic skills, now with that timeline thing right in the middle of the page. And they still need to fix the chat box.

Speaking of that, Google+ is still kinda in the dark corner...oh well.

There is apparently this promotion thing for tumblr. I'm still confused. Haha.

Got back to LoL...so rusty....
