ocean avenue

Friday, Sept. 6th, Yellowcard had one of their concert tours at the House of Blues in Boston. I was lucky enough to attend with an old friend of mine.

It was also my first concert, not to mention it was Yellowcard's.

I basically left right after my class on Friday, and got to the House of Blues around 6pm. My friend Terry had arrived there just minutes before.

The line wasn't very long when we got there, but it did pick up around 6:30pm ish. They had the fan split up into two lines, one VIP and another without VIP.

Even though we're in the VIP line, this person came over to us and asked if we're over 21. We said yes and he told us we could go hang out and wait in their bar, instead of waiting outside in line. We, of course, jumped on the opportunity and went to get our two bracelets (I believe one's for the ticket and another for the bar). We stepped through the door into a dimmed hallway, and after a few turns, we arrived in the bar.

It was a total change of atmosphere; there were a lot of couches, tables, seats, and it was not nearly as crowded as it was outside. We were on empty stomachs so we didn't get any alcohols, only water. Few other people got drinks, we thought it was exciting enough to even skip the line and wait inside in the bar, so we weren't too bummed about it.

And then I met Charlotte, my pen pal from Sheffield, England!

We actually talked the day before the concert, trying to see if we can plan out how to meet up and work out the times and such. I was slightly bummed out when she told me she got into the VIP bar as I was still waiting in line, but when the guy came over to invite us in, I knew I can find her before the concert started!

After few chats here and there, time passed fairly quickly and it was time to get situated. We had almost an hour to wait before the show actually started, so we kinda just stood there, took in the atmosphere, and had a few quick chats with the other fans.

As 8 o'clock hit, the lights shifted their hue and intensity; bass boomed for the introduction of another artist, Geoff Rickly, who will start off the concert with a few pieces of his own. He was a pretty cool person and a rather laid back personality, but I feel like his songs are rather negative and dark. He was ok.

A little before 9pm, with the closing of Rickly's performance, the staff came and further prepared the stage for the main course. It took them almost 20 mins, if I recall correctly, before the stage is ready. Fans were going crazy already at this point, and I couldn't imagine what they'd be once it begins.

9pm. Ryan Key led his band out onto the stage from the right of the stage. Crowd went berserk. I was so excited to be there, to be not even 10 feet away from Yellowcard.

They played the pieces from Ocean Avenue acoustic album in sequential order. I didn't know that they're going to do that, but I was glad they did because Back Home was an amazing song to end the album. The acoustic album ended with a 15 min ish break, and then continued the show with a full electric set of both new and old songs, with Ocean Avenue once again as the finale.

Words cannot describe my experience, so I guess I will just post more pictures.

depth of this dream

I took a flight headed north
I wasn't waiting anymore
and there I was hoping high
if I could only make you mine

I was safe in my fortress alone
then you came and tore it all down
I wanted to show you the depth of this dream
the one where I see you and fall finally
but you’re like the winters that you've always known
warm on the inside while I sleep in the snow

I took a flight headed home
and maybe I will never know
but I would lose everything
if it would bring you back to me

I was safe in my fortress alone
then you came and tore it all down
I wanted to show you the depth of this dream
the one where I see you and fall finally
but you're like the winters that you've always known
warm on the inside while I sleep in the snow

I've always run right through the moments that count
but somehow with you I slow down
and whatever happened that drove you away
I know now I can make you stay

I wanted to show you the depth of this dream
the one where I see you and fall finally
but you’re like the winters that you've always known
warm on the inside while I-
Wanted to show you all of my dreams
things that I've buried that no one can see
but you’re like the winters that you've always known
warm on the inside while I sleep in the snow

You think you can leave me here
but I know you’ll be back next year
you think you can leave me here
but I know you’ll be back next year

light boots

About two night ago, I found two new artists...while studying for an exam that didn't go too well (oh well, it won't happen again now that I know how to study for that class). One of them has been around for a little while now, but the other is relatively new. I love finding out amazing new band/voices.

But yea, it's Alex Goot and Chrissy Costanza from Against the Current. Omg their voices are just too good. I wish I can sing. I'm seriously considering about taking lessons or something -____-

Before I continue, listen to some of their stuff!

Anyways, I'm not sure the exact reason, but after I found and listened to some of them sing, my general mood got much better. I say that because I noticed that the next day, as I was walking to classes around campus, for some reason I didn't have heavy boots.

Also, I want my guitar and keyboard. :'(

Gonna have to hit up the mall later today. There's a short story of some sorts that I saved up and wanted to respond after I read it. I'll get around to it today and then do another post.

Happy Saturday guys

good to you

Everyone's around, no words are coming out
And I can't find my breath, can we just say the rest with no sound
And I know this isn't enough, I still don't measure up
And I'm not prepared, sorry is never there when you need it
And I do want you to know I hold you up above everyone
And I do want you to know I think you'd be good to me
And I'd be so good to you
I would

I thought I saw a sign, somewhere between the lines
Maybe it's me, maybe I only see, what I want
But I still have your letter, just got caught between
Someone I just invented, and who I really am and who I've become

And I do want you to know I hold you up above everyone
Ad I do want you know I think you'd be good to me
And I'd be so good to you
You bring me higher
Yeah
I would

And I do want you to know I hold you up above everyone
And I do want you know I think you'd be good to me
And I'd be so good to you
I'd be good to you
I'd be good to you
I'd be so good to you...

last tutor shift

I'm currently at my last tutor shift. Yes I'm blogging during my last tutor shift. The semester ends tomorrow and I don't think there are anymore chem exams this week. The only tutees who would come in for chemistry would be for homework, and I know a lot of those are due earlier this week so I most likely will have no chemistry tutee tonight. I might have genetics tutee but still I doubt it. That's why I'm here, blogging.

My 523 textbook is just staring back at me as I try to blog. This is slightly uncomfortable. I need to keep the page, though, so I'll not close it just yet...

Also, I got randomly just sad from nothing today. No clue why or how, just all of a sudden there's Rachel, another 50 feet of crap, and then there's me (if you don't know the reference...shame on you). *huge sigh* This more or less explained my last of energy and stamina today.

I guess...it's just too much thoughts on my mind, that same reason when I sleep late. This restless mind thing has got to stop.

I watched two episodes of FRIENDS. Got me to the part of Chandler's one liners:
We swallow our feelings. Even if it means we're unhappy forever. Sounds good?
Chandler, that's like my life. How'd you know xD

On another note, I found a few good songs this week. Another good artist is Rosie Thomas. I didn't realize I had another song by her already, I guess it's time to look more into artists and not just songs. Who knows what other amazing songs I am missing by saying this one song is the only good song that artist sings?

That reminds me of how grateful I am of the random Amazon mp3 credits. I've getting legit and good quality copies of songs from Amazon because of those. Love love love those.

---

The last day of classes is tomorrow, and that means I only have two classes, 394 and 523. No more orgo, just a hundred tons of studying. I think I have to ace both my 523 and 551 finals to get A or A- for them. I am doing well in 394, 240, 110, and 170. Just those high level classes, man. Killing me, I say.

Oh shit, that reminded me, I need to do my last seminar for 394. Almost forgot, shitz.

I'm also throwing a going-away party dinner thingy for a friend of mine studying abroad in Italy next semester. While that's a major exciting event of the year for everyone, it got me thinking about studying abroad. I figured that if I wanted to go out of the country I'd want to go to somewhere in Europe as well. I mean, I can even visit my pen pals! I mean it would depend on where exactly, of course, but how awesome would that be? My eyes would hate me (and I would probably hate myself for the first week or so) but it'll be worth it in the end. With all this excitement and positive points, I think the only down side is I'll miss people and the issue of potential failure of credit transfers, effectively making me miss a semester, more or less. Oh, and also, the only time I want to / can do so is fall of senior year. I'm also looking to get North Apartments my senior year, so if I do decide to do / get a good number to get into North, the chance of me studying abroad instantly conflicts with it because then I'd lose the housing. I'm so far the only person I know of who really really wants North, so if I end up unable to choose North, other people probably won't either. DILEMMA.

Wow all of a sudden I've blogged so much. I should be studying 523 (the textbook is still winning the staring contest, btw). Exam's next Tuesday. Five days better be enough...actually it wouldn't be a full five days because I have orgo too.

Finals will be the death of me.

I love how the title of this post is about the tutor shift and yet only 10% of this post is about my title. I love how I blog zz

Oh, if I have time this weekend (a few hours maybe?), I want to get some people some Christmas gifts before everyone goes back for break. Probably just hit up Walmart or Target or something and drop $50 ish for like...5-7 people ish.

What else is there to talk about....just realized that I'm subconsciously procrastinating by dragging out this post with more rambling.

Idk, can someone just cheer me up somehow? Actually I don't even know what would make me happy right now. The hardest option is the easiest solution, but that's just not gonna happen.

I just want to curl up in my bed and watch FRIENDS and not worry about anything. If I'll be alone I'd rather be with a tv series.

Rant over.

do you?

Just in case, I will leave my things packed
So I can run away

I cannot trust these voices I don't have a line of prospects that can give some kind of peace
There is nothing left to cling to that can bring me sweet release
I have no fear of drowning
It's the breathing that's taking all this work

Do you know what I mean when I say, "I don't want to be alone"?
What I mean when I say, "I don't want to be alone"

Empty spaces with shadows hit by streetlights
Warnings signs and weight of tired conversations
In the absence of a shoulder, in the abscess of a thief
On the brink of this destruction, on the eve of bittersweet
Now all the demons look like prophets and I'm living out
Every word they speak, every word they speak

Do you know what I mean when I say, "I don't want to be alone"?
What I mean when I say, "I don't want to be alone"
What I mean when I say, "I don't want to be alone"

Do you know what I mean when I say, "I don't want to be alone"?
What I mean when I say, "I don't want to be alone"
What I mean when I say, "I don't want to be alone"
Alone, alone, I don't want to be alone

I have no fear of drowning
It's the breathing that's taking all this work

mine

I don't know why but I've kinda put this song away for a long time now. It was the song I think it described me the most, and I think it still does.

I'm gonna bring it back onto my ipod.
